Zen Habit

These few days I managed to arrive at my office as early as 7.00 a.m. As a late comer since standard 4, of course it is something to boost for me.. he he.

I stumbled upon a blog called "Zen Habit" last week when visiting my brother's blog. It was always there actually but it never occur to me to click on the blog link until last week. The blog is about increasing productivity, how to declutter home and office and how to live a better simple life. But what strike my interest to try it is the down to earth way to execute it. The key is to break every big task into small task and just do it. It is not impossible coz we will do it one at a time. The next key ingredient is to make it a habit. After that every act will flow naturally.
So far, I managed to do and maintain the following :
1. wake up early - as early as 5.00 a.m;
2. clean my living room and keep it that way;
3. clean the tiolet and sink and keep it keep it shining;
4. do the laundry and keep the basket empty every morning;
5. arrive at the office early
6. clear my desk at work at the end of the day; and
7. clear my to do list at the end of the day.
Looking back the achivement for the last few days, the effect is awesome. For those hardworking poeple maybe they might think " eleh, poyo nye! ape la sangat yang nak dibanggakan setakat berjaya buat kerja2 tu. Biasa je" But for me, whose life is full of clutter at home and at work, it is an achivement to be proud of. I just hope this is not a temporary "hangat-hangat tahi ayam" and will eventually develop into a habit. Amen.
Much as I like seeing my clear table as I walked into my room every morning, it does not give the same impression to my boss. He starts to think that I'm free (no more work to do) and start piling more files on my table! Last week I got 7 new cases to be settled and two of them are in top urgent status. Sometime, even when I already clear up my table before going back, I found a lot of memos the next morning, all from my boss containing unnecessary reminders. Phew! Susah juga dapat bos macam ni kan?
Anyway, I start to enjoy this Zen Habit and I think I will continue to slowly implement it into my daily life. I felt more relax now, with clean surrounding and less delayed work. Actually I must agree with my husband's remark this morning. It is in deed an islamic way of life. It was there before, taught to me ever since I was small. But ye lah, only now I realise it and start to practice it. He he! If my mom know, she would have give me the 'I told you so' look.
